What are the qualifications of your training personnel? Our Instructors have over 15 years of both freight and oilfield experience in the transport industry. What type of equipment does your school provide? We train on a 1998 Volvo - 18 speed transmission with a 460 Cummins Engine. We also train with a 1997 Freightliner - 13 speed transmission with a 370 Detroit Engine. What is your graduation/employment rate? We currently enjoy a 98% employment rate. Job search and job placement assistance, what are they and how does the school aid in my job search? We provide a job board for our students which companies place thier job postings for class 1 and/or class 3 drivers. With our class 1 Introductory and extended programs we offer on-the-job training either through a company or with our highway instructor. What are my options for financial assistance? To qualify for Student Finance you must have lived in Alberta for at least 12 months prior to application, your yearly income must be under $30,000.00. You may also apply through BGS ( must be a recipient of Employment Insurance). Oteenow, Metis Association, WCB of various other funding offices. Do you have an information package available? How do I get one? Information packages are available at our office. We can either mail or email you the information, or you may visit our office to pick up a info package. What are the license and medical requirements before I consider class 1 or 3 training? A minimum class 5 license is required without GDL ( Graduated Drivers License). A fairly clean abstract with 6 demerits or less is preferred by most companies. If you have any sision or heart problems you may want to consult a physician before you consider training. Why should I choose your school? I work full time, what schedule would I have for in-truck and/or classroom? Our school provides a safe and friendly learning invironment. We work around your schedule. Our in-truck- training runs Monday - Friday from 7:30am until 10:00pm. The only exception is road test day, we have to consider the road test examiners schedules and road tests cannot be done after dark. Most classrooms are on the week-nights and Saturdays. We Also offer three options for on-the-job training. Option 1 is two weeks of OJT throught a company. Option 2 is three Vancouver trips with our highway instructor. Option 3 is one week of OJT in the city and one Vancouver trip. What do I need to take a class 1 road test? In order to take a class 1 road test you will need to have an air brake certificate, a class 1 medical and a class 1 written test permit. What do I need for a class 3 road test? In order to take a class 3 road test you will need an air brake certificate and a class 3 written test permit. I have a resume but it needs to be updated, can you help me? At your convenience we also provide a resume service. Provide us with your education, work and/or volunteer history, types of licenses and/or certificates, courses, references etc. and we will provide an updated resume for you.
